17 pupils killed in Kenya faculty hearth, police say


A minimum of 17 pupils have died after a college in central Kenya stuck hearth on Thursday evening, police stated.

There are fears that the loss of life toll may just upward push as greater than a dozen others had been taken to medical institution with critical burns.

The reason for the hearth at Hillside Endarasha Number one in Nyeri county is being investigated, police spokesperson Resila Onyango advised native media.

A group of investigators has been deployed to the varsity, Ms Onyango added.

Faculty fires are slightly not unusual in Kenyan boarding colleges.

In 2017, 10 scholars died in an arson assault at Moi Women Top Faculty within the capital Nairobi.

A minimum of 67 scholars died in Machakos County, south-east of Nairobi within the deadliest Kenyan faculty arson that came about two decades in the past.
